Monrovia, Liberia – Continuing his ongoing "Hope and Unity Tour" in the diaspora, Dr. Richard Konteh, the leading APC Flagbearer aspirant, received a rousing welcome during a two-day visit to Liberia. The visit drew hundreds of All People's Congress (APC) members and Sierra Leoneans from across Monrovia and surrounding towns, all eager to show their support for Dr. Konteh's vision of a united, prosperous, and inclusive Sierra Leone.
The event, held at the New Kru Town Hall, was a vibrant display of solidarity. Processions through key towns leading to the capital underscored the enthusiasm and strong sense of connection Sierra Leoneans in Liberia feel toward the Hope and Unity Movement.
Hon. Kadie Davies, chairperson of the event, praised Dr. Konteh as a leader capable of unifying the APC and delivering transformative change to Sierra Leone.
"We are here today to show our solidarity and support for Dr. Konteh's vision for Sierra Leone," Hon. Davies said. "We believe he is the right leader to bring about the change we desire."
In his address, Dr. Konteh reaffirmed the principles of unity, justice, and peaceful coexistence that define the Hope and Unity campaign. He assured APC members that, if entrusted with the party's leadership in 2026 and elected president in 2028, he would uphold the rule of law and ensure accountability for violence and human rights abuses.
“As your president after the 2028 elections, I will ensure that justice is served, and the rule of law is upheld,” Dr. Konteh emphasized. “We will investigate instances of violence and human rights abuses, and those responsible will be held accountable.”
Dr. Konteh also outlined his priority initiatives, including: Education, ensuring every citizen has access to quality education; Economic empowerment, focused on creating jobs and fostering entrepreneurship; Human capital development, to equip Sierra Leoneans with the skills and opportunities needed to thrive.
Speaking on behalf of the APC Young Congress in Liberia, Thomas Foday commended Dr. Konteh’s ongoing engagement with the diaspora and pledged unwavering support for his candidacy.
“We are proud to support Dr. Konteh’s bid,” Foday said. “We believe he is the leader to take our party to victory and rebuild Sierra Leone.”
Dr. Konteh expressed his deep gratitude to Sierra Leoneans in Liberia and to the Liberian government for their warm hospitality throughout the visit.
“I am grateful for the warm reception and support we have received during our stay in Liberia,” he said. “This is a testament to the strong ties between our two countries and the APC’s shared commitment to unity, development, and progress.”
The Liberia stop of the "Hope and Unity Tour" marks another milestone in Dr. Konteh’s effort to engage Sierra Leoneans at home and abroad, fostering collaboration and inclusiveness as he builds momentum toward the APC convention in 2026 and the 2028 presidential election.
