At age 62, one has reached a certain level of maturity, gained a wealth of experience and wisdom, and has achieved some goals while still pursuing others. One has likely experienced many of life's ups and downs.
For some, being 62 years old might mean transitioning into retirement after years of hard work and dedication. It may mean enjoying the fruits of one's labour and spending more time with family and friends. It can also be a time to reflect on one's accomplishments and pass on knowledge to younger generations.
For others, being 62 years old might mean starting new endeavours or pursuing passions that were put on hold due to family or work commitments. It is a time when one can take risks and try new things without the same level of responsibilities and constraints present earlier in life.
Regardless of one's circumstances, being 62 is a milestone that should be celebrated. It represents a life that has been lived with purpose and meaning and a journey that is far from over.
On April 27th, 2023, we celebrated our nation's 62nd Independence Anniversary. It is a time to reflect on past successes and challenges and look toward the future with hope and determination.
Join us in this journey of reflection and reimagination in the short series "Pondering Over 62 Years of Independence: Looking Towards the Future of Sierra Leone" as we explore what it means to be 62 years old and chart a path forward for the next ten years of independence.
